Rex Gaskins
Jan Lumibao is currently a graduate student working towards his PhD in Nutritional Sciences with Dr. Rex Gaskins. Originally from Chicago, he completed his BS majoring in Molecular & Cellular Biology here at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He obtained his MS in nutritional sciences from San Diego State University. Jan’s current research focuses on aberrations in mitochondrial metabolism as it contributes to the invasion and malignancy of glioblastoma (GBM). Current work focuses heavily on investigating the effects of a hypoxic tumor microenvironment and the generation of gene knockouts using CRISPR-Cas9.
